pajama morning

we have multiple ‘fights’ a day over who is sitting on whom and who gets the chair first.  henry will just climb right on over megan and sit on her hip, shoulder, whatever.  sometimes she loves it and sometimes she pushes him off… typical, huh?  henry has also taken to chasing her around and she laughs so loud.  a huge, fake laugh but regardless, she is having fun!

kevin and i met with ms. pam at school yesterday.  you may recall i wanted more details “she didn’t know her rectangles” didn’t cut it for us… i told ms. pam we wanted to talk but kevin and my schedule hadn’t matched up yet.  and then thursday happened.

on thursday, aimee sent a text that said “ms. pam said m was a little out of sorts today and when i asked her what she meant she said she was asked not to do something and did it anyways and threw fits, etc. and her word she spelled out to me to describe was defiant”.

and then ms. pam called me.  we chatted.  in addition to not listening real well, she wanted to sit next to braden but the chair was taken so she ‘threw the child out’.  and yes, that happened TWICE.  (i’m sure she asked nicely first!)

everything aligned with our schedules so it was perfect timing to go to the school and have a conference.  i do think thursday was an off day as she had skipped her nap for the 2 days prior, we had construction, paint fumes, etc.  everyone deserves an off day but throwing kids out of chairs isn’t how to cope.

i am glad we went.  we have a lot we can and should be working on.  spelling her name, opposites, letter and number recognition, etc.  she really resists going to the ‘skill table’.  she would rather continue to play and pretend.  it was good to hear all about areas we can work on but it was also good to hear where she excels.

ms. pam started with- see those paint/chalk easels?  well, the area under the easels are megan’s puppy pens.  she proceeded to tell us that megan puts all the boys in the dog pens and she lets them out to eat and take them on walks.  then she said she is probably the most creative and imaginative child she has ever had.  she said she immediately gets into character and is very dramatic about everything.

she continued by telling us that megan is her best painter and color-er.  she stays in the lines and uses colors appropriately (blue sky, green grass, etc).

later, kevin asked about the skill time – was it certain types, etc.  ms. pam said- she just doesn’t want to come to the table at all…. she wants to be the ‘puppy master’.

done

[taken last sunday as we were taking the old cabinets out]

i’m done with this week.  done, i say.  way too long.  late nights, construction, storms, paint fumes, migraines AND tension headaches.  and that is just me.  henry is sick, kevin is tired, megan is acting out at school and i know aimee just has to be worn out because she has to deal with ALL of us.

so tonight, megan and i had a date.  tomorrow, i am going in late, kevin and i are leaving early for a parent teacher conference(not because of today, but good timing), and then we will have a great weekend spending lots of quality time with each other.  i envision cuddles, movies, bikes, walks, tennis, swings and more…. all from the comfort of our backyard.

the even better news is the construction is done- they would have left today and not come back but when hanging the door, it broke so they have to come back.  it will still be a few weeks until the cabinets come in but our house can be in some sort of order by tomorrow night.

and icing on the cake… just turned on the tv while uploading the pictures for the blog and it looks like the color has gone out.  UGH.  maybe that is a signal to just go to bed.
